Robert Dowd Confirmed as First-Ever BOBIHC Ambassador

Best of British Ice Hockey Camps (BOBIHC) are proud to announce that Sheffield Steelers and Great Britain captain Robert Dowd has been confirmed as the first-ever official BOBIHC Ambassador.

Dowdy, a long-standing supporter of the camps, will return this summer as a special guest coach for one day at each of the upcoming Sheffield camps on the following dates:

  • 28–30 July – Ice Sheffield (final spaces remaining)
  • 4–8 August – Ice Sheffield (sold out)
  • 11–13 August – Ice Sheffield (final spaces remaining)

A BOBIHC spokesperson said:
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Robert back to the camps this summer. We’ve enjoyed an association for over 10 years, and we are extremely grateful for his continued support. Rob has many different commitments, so we’re delighted to have found a way for him to remain involved. His presence as an Ambassador and Guest Coach offers incredible value to all participants."

BOBIHC Director of Coaching, Paul Heavey, added:
"Rob is simply one of the best players—and people—British Ice Hockey has ever produced. As good as he’s been for the Steelers and Team GB, he’s an even better person. There’s no greater role model for young and aspiring players than Dowdy, and his involvement will be a massive benefit to everyone attending our camps in Sheffield this summer."

Speaking on his new role, Dowdy said:
"I’m incredibly grateful and honoured to be named an ambassador for Best of British Hockey Camps. Over the past 10 years, it’s been a joy to work alongside such passionate coaches, players, and staff, and to see the positive impact these camps have on young athletes. I’m absolutely thrilled to take on this new role and can’t wait to see everyone back at camp—let’s make this our best year yet!"
