Best of British Ice Hockey Camps – A Legacy of Passion, Skill, and Community
The journey ofBest of British Ice Hockey Camps (BOBIHC) began in 2003 with two passionate ice hockey professionals — Paul Heavey and Jaimie Longmuir. After working together as Head Coach and General Manager of the Ayr Scottish Eagles, the pair wanted to stay involved in the sport they loved. When their team disbanded, they saw a new opportunity: to launch a hockey camp that would inspire and develop the next generation of British ice hockey talent.

The Beginning: A Vision for Young Players
In August 2003, the very first BOBIHC camp was held at the Magnum Leisure Centre. It was a success on the ice but financially challenging. Still, Paul and Jaimie believed in their vision — and after a second camp proved a resounding success, BOBIHC was officially on its way.
The goal was simple but powerful: to give young UK players the chance to train with elite British coaches and athletes. More than just skill development, it was about creating role models and proving that success in ice hockey is achievable.

Finding a Home: Ice Sheffield and Beyond
In 2005, after struggling to make contact with Ice Sheffield, Jaimie took a train to the venue and stayed until he spoke with a manager — eventually securing a date for August 2006. That first Sheffield camp marked the beginning of a long and successful partnership.
Since then, BOBIHC camps have been held across the UK — in Auchenharvie, Elgin, Bracknell, Whitley Bay, and more — but Ice Sheffield and Dundee Ice Arena have become the camp’s true homes, offering world-class facilities and unforgettable experiences.
