ROBERT DOWD
Best of British Ice Hockey Camps (BOBIHC) is proud to welcome Sheffield Steelers and Great Britain captain Robert Dowd as our first-ever official Ambassador. A long-time supporter and friend of the programme, "Dowdy" has been involved with BOBIHC for over a decade and will return this summer as a special guest coach, joining each of our Sheffield camps for a day of hands-on guidance and mentorship.
Dowdy's appointment as Ambassador marks a significant milestone for BOBIHC. His leadership on and off the ice, both in the EIHL and internationally with Team GB, makes him an outstanding role model for the next generation of players. His passion, professionalism, and genuine commitment to youth development align perfectly with our values and mission.
“Rob is simply one of the best players—and people—British Ice Hockey has ever produced,” says BOBIHC Director of Coaching Paul Heavey. “There’s no greater role model for young players, and having him involved will be a massive benefit to everyone at camp.”
Robert shares this enthusiasm: “I’m incredibly grateful and honoured to be named an ambassador for Best of British Hockey Camps. It’s been a joy to work with such passionate coaches and players over the years, and I’m thrilled to continue being part of something that’s making a real difference for young athletes.”
We’re excited to continue this journey with Rob and can’t wait for another unforgettable summer on the ice.
