PETER RUSSEL
Peter Russell is the most successful coach in Great Britain’s ice hockey history, with an incredible 13 World Championship medals—including 8 golds—across senior and junior levels. Currently head coach of EC Bad Nauheim (DEL2) and Team GB Men, Peter has led GB into the IIHF top division five times, including their unforgettable gold in Hungary and dramatic survival in 2019. A former goaltender, Peter began coaching in 2002 and has since guided clubs across the UK and Germany. As a Best of British Alumni Coach, Peter brings elite experience, tactical excellence, and a true passion for developing British talent.

JONATHAN WEAVER
Jonathan Weaver is one of British ice hockey’s most respected defencemen, with a career spanning over three decades. Currently playing for the Telford Tigers, Weaver has represented Great Britain at numerous international tournaments and enjoyed standout seasons with clubs including the Newcastle Vipers, Coventry Blaze, and Nottingham Panthers. A natural leader, he captained Coventry to an EIHL title in 2010 and is renowned for his hockey IQ and calm presence on the ice. As a Best of British Alumni Coach, Jonathan shares his elite experience and dedication to the game, inspiring the next generation of British players.

DANNY STEWART
Danny first joined the Best of British Hockey Camps in 2010 while serving as player/coach in Newcastle. Working alongside Paul Heavey, Jaimie Longmuir, and other top coaches played a key role in shaping his coaching journey.
A graduate of Miami University (Ohio), Danny played four years of NCAA hockey before turning pro, spending three seasons in the UHL. He then spent 10 seasons in the EIHL with the Coventry Blaze, Newcastle Vipers, and Fife Flyers—serving as player/coach for both Fife and Newcastle.
After retiring from playing in 2016, he transitioned to full-time coaching, spending eight seasons behind the bench in Coventry before joining the Nottingham Panthers in 2024.
Danny is a three-time EIHL league champion, two-time cup winner as a player, and most recently led Nottingham to a playoff championship as head coach. He also holds the record for most EIHL games played by an import.

PAUL THOMPSON
Paul “Thommo” Thompson is the most decorated coach in Elite Ice Hockey League history. With five league titles, nine Coach of the Year awards, and a historic British Grand Slam in 2004–05, he has shaped the modern era of UK ice hockey. Currently head coach of the Cardiff Devils, Paul has led teams across the UK and Europe, including Coventry Blaze, Sheffield Steelers, and clubs in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Italy. He also coached Great Britain’s national team from 2006 to 2011. As a Best of British Alumni Coach, Paul brings championship-level insight, decades of experience, and an unmatched passion for developing British talent.
